DataFox Field Mapping Settings
DataFox field mappings allow you to control the information enriched in your Salesforce. This is so you can receive updated and accurate firmographic info from DataFox. You can access the field mappings through the "+" in Salesforce, then DataFox settings.
How Do Field Mappings Work?
You can map fields for the Account, Lead, and Contact objects in Salesforce. These mappings determine how DataFox information enriches fields in Salesforce. For instance, you can map the DataFox city info to the Salesforce billing city. Each mapping includes a dropdown to select which Salesforce fields to map to.
The configuration is already pre-populated with default mappings, so DataFox won't overwrite any existing information in your Salesforce. Notice that some Salesforce fields have the “dfox__” prefix. These are fields that are included in the DataFox Sync package since most customers typically do not have these existing fields in Salesforce.
How Does Overwriting Work?
The Overwrite box determines whether to overwrite the Salesforce field with DataFox info. If the Overwrite box is checked, then any existing information in the corresponding Salesforce field is overwritten with DataFox info.
If the Overwrite is not checked, then the incoming DataFox field will only populate the corresponding Salesforce field if the Salesforce field is empty (i.e. in a “null” state).
For example, if you want to update the location of an account based on verified and updated information available in DataFox, you can select the Salesforce field, then check the Overwrite box. When the location is updated within DataFox, we'll push the update into your Salesforce instance during the nightly refresh.
